Why Team Ali’i Run Video Gait Analysis?
Coach Mike Kyle is a certified Newton Run Coach and a certified Lydiard Run Coach and has been doing run video analysis since 2009. Mike has performed video analysis on over 200 triathletes and runners.
Whether you are a seasoned runner who has seen minimal improvement in race times despite increases in training, or you’re a runner who is consistently nagged by injuries, video run gait analysis can help you.
Unlike the “free run gait analysis” done at running stores to help select the correct shoe for your stride (which is also very important), our video run gait analysis actually identifies areas where a runner’s biomechanics can be improved. Video allows us to isolate single elements of your stride and recommend drills to improve your form. These improvements typically result in a more efficient stride over time. This allows the runner to run further and faster, expending less energy, with less likelihood of injury.
Additionally video provides runners with visual feedback specific to their individual running technique. The runner can improve their form more quickly since they know what their improved running stride should look and feel like.
Increase Comfort & Efficiency while Reducing Risk of Injury!
The Team Ali’i/Dublin Physical Therapy Gait Analysis emphasizes frame by frame HD video analysis, and measurements at key points in the gait cycle. We use software developed by industry leader, Silicon Coach, to make assessments of your running form. Using Silicon Coach software, we will highlight biomechanical patterns with angles, measurements, and drawing shapes for precise feedback. This allows us to make a powerful and objective gait and biomechanical analysis, which is easily communicated through high quality video footage. We will then make the video available to you for viewing whenever you want.
Our focus remains on deducing causative factors of injuries or inefficiencies in the most natural environment to which runners are in on a day to day basis. A video analysis is recommended if you are looking to improve performance or if you have already gone through extensive physical therapy for an injury and are now seeking more detail into correcting run form issues. If the intent is to correct issues pertaining to an injury and there has been little or no work done with a professional trained in bio-mechanics and injury prevention, Coach Mike’s physical therapy and coaching background and expertise is perfect for you. The three parts of the video analysis session are described below. Running shoes are required. Tight pants (such as triathlon shorts) and a tight contrasting color top will give best results, but are not absolutely required. Allow 30-45 minutes for the entire process.
This involves a 10-15 min outdoor recording session to be performed at Dublin Physical Therapy for ground running recording. For this, athletes run several short periods of 10-15 seconds each for side, front, and rear views. Athletes must be able to run for 10-15 seconds at a time.
This involves a 10-15 minute indoor session to be performed at Dublin Physical Therapy for treadmill video recording. Total running time is 3-5 minutes and involves barefoot running for accurate measurements. Athletes must be able to run for at least 1 minute
Gait Analysis Review Session
Run gait analysis results will be reviewed with the athlete immediately after the video is completed. The results will also be made available to the athlete in 7-10 days via YouTube.
